The main tasks of the second round of negotiations between Russia and Ukraine in Istanbul will be the preparation of a ceasefire agreement and a number of other issues. This was stated by State Duma deputy Alexei Chepa on Thursday, May 29.

"Discussions will also continue on the exchange of prisoners of war, on facilitating and simplifying the process of transferring the bodies of the dead. The parties will also have to discuss the memoranda prepared after the first meeting and discuss point by point how to make one of the two documents," the parliamentarian listed in an interview with Lenta.Ru .

According to the politician, a cease-fire immediately after the second round of negotiations is unlikely. This is due to the opposition of the Ukrainian side.

"It's difficult because Ukraine is basically doing everything possible to disrupt the negotiations. To begin with, attempts to intimidate our delegates. It is also worth remembering the attacks on the territory of Russia, which cast doubt on the possibility of trust," concluded Chepa.

Yesterday, Russian Foreign Minister Sergei Lavrov announced that the second round of talks between Russia and Ukraine would be held in Istanbul on June 2. He expressed the hope that all parties interested in the success of the peace process would provide support for a new round of discussions.
