A new large accordion electric bus has appeared in Moscow.


A new KamAZ-6292 electric bus of an especially large class was put into operation in Moscow in a test mode. This was announced on May 29 by the metropolitan Department of Transport in its Telegram channel.
The accordion electric bus will be tested in different weather conditions, experts will evaluate the technical characteristics, driving performance and comfort for passengers. Based on the results of the tests, Deptrans will consider the possibility of purchasing articulated electric buses to operate on the most popular routes.
The power reserve of such an electric bus on a single charge is at least 135 km. The 18.7 m long car has 47 seats and two larger seats, as well as a storage area for strollers and bicycles.
The electric bus is equipped with a two-zone climate system and electric interior heaters, a folding ramp, and driver call buttons for passengers with limited mobility. There are also three media screens, four validators, adaptive interior lighting, and USB-A and Type-C connectors for charging phones.
The car entered the Salarievo Metro — Kitay-Gorod metro route, on average, more than 18 thousand trips are made in this direction on weekdays. The e10 express route connects five districts of the capital. According to Maxim Liksutov, Moscow's Deputy Mayor for Transport, it is planned that by 2035 almost the entire Mosgortrans fleet will switch to electric traction.
On May 7, it was reported that 22 new electric bus routes have been launched in Moscow since the beginning of the year, their total number has reached 200 since 2018. Currently, more than 2,350 electric buses operate over 20% of the routes in the capital.
