The Head of the PMR noted the lack of alternatives to the current peacekeeping operation in the region

There are no alternatives to the current peacekeeping operation in the Pridnestrovian Moldavian Republic (PMR). This was announced on May 29 by the President of the unrecognized republic Vadim Krasnoselsky.

"The people of Pridnestrovie are convinced that there is no alternative to the existing format of the peacekeeping operation on the banks of the Dniester. For more than 30 years, it has proved its effectiveness in resolving the most difficult issues," the Pridnestrovie News Feed quotes him as saying.

According to the head of the republic, the supranational nature of peacekeeping missions could become an effective tool towards ensuring the norms of international law. He expressed his conviction that the practice of peacemaking should be continued in order to further contribute to the settlement of relations between the PMR and Moldova.

On April 18, the head of the Pridnestrovian Foreign Ministry, Vitaly Ignatiev, announced attempts by Chisinau to increase pressure on the unrecognized PMR, avoiding negotiations with Tiraspol. According to him, the goal is to dismantle an internationally recognized platform for dialogue, to free our hands to continue the blockade and restrictive measures, as well as to increase pressure on Transnistria.
