On May 28, Rustem Umerov, the Ukrainian Defense Minister and head of the Ukrainian delegation at the talks with Russia, said that Ukraine had submitted to Russia a draft memorandum with a position on a cease-fire and conflict resolution.

"I handed our document to the head of the Russian delegation, which reflects the Ukrainian position," he claims on his Facebook page (owned by the extremist Meta company recognized in Russia, its activities are banned in the Russian Federation).

Umerov said that the submitted document concerns the Ukrainian position on the ceasefire and that Ukraine is waiting for the Russian version of the memorandum.

Earlier in the day, Russian Presidential aide Vladimir Medinsky invited Umerov to meet to exchange memoranda. According to Medinsky, Russia is ready for a "meaningful" discussion of an agreement to end the Ukrainian conflict. He also noted that the Russian government is waiting for confirmation to hold talks on the designated date "in the interests of long-term peace."
