Lavrov informed Rubio about preparations for a new round of negotiations between Russia and Ukraine

Foreign Minister Sergei Lavrov informed US Secretary of State Marco Rubio about preparations for a new round of talks between Moscow and Kiev. This was reported on the website of the Russian diplomatic mission on May 28.

"The minister informed Rubio <...> about the preparation by the Russian side of concrete proposals for the next round of direct Russian-Ukrainian talks in Istanbul," the publication says.

During the telephone conversation, the US Secretary of State stressed the commitment of the American President Donald Trump to an early end to the Ukrainian conflict and expressed Washington's readiness to help bring the positions of the parties closer.

The parties touched upon topical issues on the bilateral agenda and confirmed their mutual commitment to continuing a constructive and mutually respectful dialogue between the foreign ministries of Russia and the United States.
