US President Donald Trump has announced his readiness to participate in a trilateral meeting with Russian President Vladimir Putin and Ukrainian President Vladimir Zelensky. He stated this to journalists on May 28.

"I will do it if necessary," he said at a press conference at the White House, which is broadcast on the YouTube channel.

According to him, work is currently underway on a meeting with Putin. The US president also believes that "everything is fine, but we'll see." In his opinion, "no one will be able" to predict the development of events until the signing of the document with the agreements.

Trump said that the United States plans to decide within about two weeks in which direction negotiations on the settlement of the conflict in Ukraine are going. Then, in his opinion, it will become clear whether the parties really want to end the conflict.

According to Trump, Washington is not tightening sanctions against Moscow, as it does not want to harm the prospects for resolving the Ukrainian conflict.

On the same day, Foreign Minister Sergei Lavrov announced that the second round of talks between Russia and Ukraine would be held in Istanbul on June 2. According to him, the Russian side quickly prepared a memorandum that reflects the state's position on all aspects of addressing the root causes of the crisis.
