The political scientist spoke about the causes of the crisis of the US Democratic Party

Voters who voted for former US President Joe Biden did not care who was in power — they voted for ideological attitudes that have long prevailed over personality among US Democrats. Vladimir Mozhegov, an American political scientist, shared this opinion with Izvestia on May 28.

"There are agendas and ideological attitudes that do not create personalities. <...> They [the Democrats] are unable to nominate charismatic figures precisely because their personalities have long been lost. To come to power, you have to lose yourself altogether, you have to become a cog in the function of this organism," the political scientist explained.

In his opinion, the Democratic party is in complete disarray, and the nomination of Biden as a presidential candidate was the most unfortunate choice, which at the same time "suited everyone."

According to Mozhegov, part of Biden's entourage is unlikely to be able to return to the White House due to reputational damage. At the same time, he stressed that political clans can nominate candidates for elected positions who have not managed to discredit themselves.

"Clans live much more than individuals, they define these individuals. Therefore, of course, the same clan of [former US President Barack] The Obamas, the same Clinton clan (former American leader Bill Clinton. — Ed.), and the same Neocons, they can nominate other figures," he concluded.
