The Cabinet of Ministers has approved the National Program for Moldova's Accession to the European Union (EU) for 2025-2029. This was announced on May 28 by TVR Moldova.

The program provides for a large—scale adaptation of Moldovan legislation and institutions to European standards within the framework of 33 chapters on accession, covering key areas from human rights and economics to ecology and digitalization.

"Our country's strategic goal is to become a member of the EU and build its life according to the European model here at home in the Republic of Moldova," said Prime Minister Dorin Rechan.

As noted in the document, the program is aimed at improving the quality of life of citizens: effective public services, fair justice, affordable education and healthcare, modern infrastructure and a favorable environmental environment. Businesses will gain wider access to the European market and support in the reform process.

The State Chancellery will coordinate the implementation of the program through the Office for European Integration. A summary report on the results achieved will be submitted to the Government and Parliament by February 25 each year.

It is specified that the document will be reviewed annually, taking into account the recommendations of the European Commission and the obligations arising during the negotiations on Moldova's accession to the EU.

In an interview with IPN on April 7, the country's Foreign Minister Mihai Popsoi said that Moldova plans to start negotiations with the European Commission (EC) on joining the European Union (EU) by the end of this year.

According to him, European integration is the only strategic direction for Moldova. Popshoy expressed confidence that over time, many citizens of the country will support this path.
