- Bild has learned about Germany's plans to allocate a large sum to Ukraine for the development of missiles

The German government plans to allocate a large sum to Ukraine for the independent development and production of cruise missiles with a range of up to 2.5 thousand km. This was reported by the Bild newspaper on May 28, citing sources.
"The German government plans to provide the defense industry of Ukraine with a million—dollar sum for the independent development of cruise missiles with a range of up to 2.5 thousand km and their mass production," the material says.
It is clarified that by now Kiev has already implemented similar developments and tested some at a distance of more than 40 km behind the front line.
At the same time, Bild noted that German Chancellor Friedrich Merz may promise Ukraine the supply of Mars II multiple launch rocket systems with a range of 85 km and other weapons. It is clarified that Germany, among other things, is negotiating the supply of additional Iris-T anti-aircraft missile systems.
In addition, according to the publication, the issue of supplying long-range Taurus cruise missiles to Kiev will not be raised during the visit of Ukrainian President Vladimir Zelensky.
On May 26, Merz announced that Britain, France, Germany and the United States had lifted range restrictions on weapons supplied to Ukraine. He noted that this decision is aimed at giving it the opportunity to attack targets in Russia. The next day, the Chancellor said that he had talked about the decisions taken a few months ago. On the morning of May 28, Politico newspaper stated that Merz's allies criticized the Chancellor after the relevant statements.
