A criminal case has been opened into the purchase of alcohol for teenagers in Baikalsk, Irkutsk region. This was reported on May 28 in the press service of the Regional Investigative Committee (IC) of Russia.
"A criminal case has been opened into the purchase of alcoholic beverages for minors by investigators of the Investigative Committee of the Russian Federation for the Irkutsk Region," the Investigative Committee wrote on its Telegram channel.
The department clarified that the case was initiated under Article 151 of the Criminal Code of the Russian Federation ("Involvement of minors in anti-social acts").
The deaths of five teenagers and the wounding of four as a result of a knife attack became known earlier that day. It is specified that after the incident, the alleged suspect set fire to the house and died as a result of the fire that started. An operational headquarters was set up in Baikalsk following the incident. Three days of mourning were also declared after the deaths of the teenagers.
