- Peskov commented on the plans of Kiev and the EU on the production of long-range weapons.

The statement by Ukrainian President Vladimir Zelensky that Ukraine plans to conclude an agreement with the European Union (EU) on the production of long-range weapons on its territory only underlines the correctness of Russia's intentions to end the current conflict. This was announced on May 28 by Kremlin spokesman Dmitry Peskov.
"This once again underlines the justification of our desire to eliminate the root causes of this crisis and this conflict," said the press secretary of the President of the Russian Federation at a briefing.
According to Peskov, it is the root causes of the current military conflict in Ukraine that pose a significant threat to Russia's national interests.
Zelensky said in a video message on his Telegram channel on May 27 that Ukraine is ready to conclude an agreement with the EU in the near future on investing in the production of long-range weapons and drones on its territory. He suggested that Kiev would produce all the weapons, but with the financing of the EU countries.
At the same time, Yuri Gaidai, an expert at the Center for Economic Strategy, told The Daily Telegraph on May 27 that Ukraine had not received any guarantees from EU countries that they would continue to finance it after 2025. The media noted that Kiev's main hope may be to convince European leaders that investing in Ukraine is not just throwing money into an endless conflict, but a large—scale investment project.
Then Federation Council member Andrei Klimov noted that if Western countries themselves begin to supply long-range weapons to Kiev, the Ukrainian conflict will reach a new level, which will significantly complicate the negotiation process. The politician stressed that even the supply of long-range missiles to Ukraine would not prevent Russia from solving its tasks in the conflict.
