The brother of the teenager who attacked in Baikalsk questioned his involvement in the tragedy

Pavel Paramonov, the brother of the suspect in the knife attack on teenagers in Baikalsk, Irkutsk region, questioned his involvement in the crime in an interview with Izvestia on Wednesday, May 28.

"I am aware of what happened, but I do not know the details. Well, he was there, but it's not a fact that it's him. He wouldn't have any motives," he said.

According to him, his brother said that five people were supposed to be present at the meeting, but none of those previously mentioned were actually there. He clarified that the children who came were not supposed to be there.

Pavel emphasized that his brother knew the guys by sight, but did not understand what they were doing there. He compared this to cases where one company can bring another group of strangers to a meeting.

"I only know a couple of surnames and I know them by sight, I don't know all the others. My brother is 17 years old. What, he has nothing to do with teenagers who are 13-14 years old, hanging around?" added Pavel.

He clarified that his brother was a sympathetic and kind person, and stressed that the investigation would deal with all the circumstances in the future.

The deaths of five teenagers and the wounding of four as a result of a knife attack became known earlier that day. It is specified that after that, the alleged suspect set fire to the house and died as a result of the fire that started. A criminal case has been opened into the tragedy.

Later, the Commissioner for Children's Rights reported that one of the injured children had undergone surgery. An operational headquarters was set up in Baikalsk following the incident. Against the background of the tragedy, three days of mourning were declared in Baikalsk.
