The Russian Foreign Ministry called the US Golden Dome project a threat to strategic stability.

The implementation of the US plans to develop the Golden Dome missile defense system poses a threat to strategic stability. This was stated on May 27 by the official representative of the Russian Foreign Ministry, Maria Zakharova, at a briefing.

According to her, in order to create the Golden Dome, it is planned to give an additional impetus aimed at further developing the means of pre-launch destruction of rocket launchers and the infrastructure designed for their use.

"This is already a material expression of the extremely dangerous doctrinal attitude of the United States of America to launch so-called preventive, and in fact the first disarming strikes. This is an adventurous approach, it represents a direct undermining of the foundations of strategic stability," Zakharova said.

In her opinion, this situation is also complicated by the fact that the Golden Dome provides for a significant strengthening of the means designed to carry out combat operations in space. As an example, she mentioned the deployment of interception systems in orbit, she added "Газета.Ru ".

Zakharova believes that such operations are aimed at creating the possibility of striking "in space, from space, or in relation to space," which will turn this environment into a space for deploying weapons and an arena for armed confrontation.

"The opinions of Russia and China on this issue and on many other issues, and these are nevertheless fundamental aspects of strategic stability, completely coincide or differ in a high degree of proximity," she said.
