Slutsky says Russian Federation seeks to make memorandum on Ukraine a basis for peace
The memorandum on the settlement of the conflict with Ukraine will clearly express the terms of a cease-fire. The head of the State Duma committee for international affairs, Leonid Slutsky, told Izvestiya.
The politician emphasized that the work on the memorandum is coordinated and kept under control personally by the Russian President.
"The memorandum will clearly express the terms of the ceasefire, and it will be a landmark document, like the one that was initialed and, unfortunately, then thrown into the basket, as [Russian President] Vladimir Vladimirovich[Putin] rightly noted, after our negotiations in 2022. I hope that the current document will truly be the basis for a sustainable peace. At least we - Russia - are striving for it," he said.
