On May 25, the commander of the assault group with the call sign Pumba told Izvestia about the combat work of the military personnel of the Vostok group of forces during the liberation of the village of Otradnoye in the Donetsk People's Republic (DPR).

He noted that after taking control of the Bogatyr settlement in the DPR, it was decided to continue moving so that the enemy would not have time to gain a foothold in positions and create a tight defense.

"The following assault groups began to advance, we also advanced from Bogatyr to prevent them (Ukrainian militants. — Ed.) to gain a foothold, and successfully completed the combat mission," the serviceman said.

According to the commander, when attack aircraft enter a populated area, they are escorted and covered by unmanned aerial vehicles (UAVs).

"Our task was as soon as possible <...> fly in, take up defense, gain a foothold so that the groups can move further and we can help them, respectively, cover them," Pumbaa clarified.

He stressed that the units of the Armed Forces of Ukraine (AFU) did not have time to gain a foothold in the village.

"The assault is happening fast, they don't have time to understand anything, to do anything. They were retreating fast enough, mostly running, because they needed to change their point, and they were trying to move away, but our guys were catching up with them and catching up," the military said.

The liberation of the village of Otradnoye by Russian military personnel, as well as the settlements of Loknya in the Sumy region and Stupochki in the DPR, became known the day before. On the same day, the Ministry of Defense of the Russian Federation published footage of the combat work of units of the Armed Forces of Russia during the liberation of Otradnoye.
