Komsomolskaya Pravda newspaper turns 100 years old

The Soviet and Russian daily newspaper Komsomolskaya Pravda celebrated its 100th anniversary on May 24.

This publication has always amazed readers with its bold presentation of materials, thanks to which it was able to reach a record circulation of 22 million copies.

During the Great Patriotic War, letters from the front line were written on the pages of the newspaper, as well as instructions on how to increase steel production and distinguish a bomber from a fighter by silhouette.

Komsomolskaya Pravda had a lot of exclusives. For example, on April 13, 1961, when the first man to fly into space, Yuri Gagarin, was on the front pages of all newspapers, only Komsomolskaya Pravda had photos of his daughter and his wife, who found out right at that moment that the landing was successful. In addition, they also had an exclusive interview with Gagarin right on the plane that carried him after landing in Moscow.

Also, the legendary editor-in-chief of the newspaper, Vladimir Sungorkin, always knew how to preserve and enhance the traditions of the publication. He also turned it into a powerful media holding with many print publications.

In addition, Komsomolskaya Pravda has been one of Russian President Vladimir Putin's favorite newspapers for many years. The newspaper was also the first publication to have its own website back in 1998.
