The residents of the Kursk region released from Ukrainian captivity were taken to a temporary accommodation facility. This was announced on May 24 by the Commissioner for Human Rights in Russia, Tatiana Moskalkova.

"As a result of the exchange and the long journey, the released Kuryans were taken to a temporary accommodation center. Tired, exhausted, but not broken, not depressed, but morally inspired — they returned victorious," she wrote on the Telegram channel.

The Ombudsman noted that people will have a long rehabilitation and recovery. According to her, they will be provided with all necessary assistance.

In addition, Alexander Hishtein, acting governor of the Kursk region, said that certificates worth 30,000 rubles were given to each person who returned from captivity. At the same time, the remaining support measures, including a monthly payment of 65 thousand rubles, remain in force, he added.

The Russian Federation and Ukraine agreed on a large-scale exchange of prisoners of war according to the "1000 for 1000" formula at talks in Istanbul on May 16. As part of the Russian-Ukrainian agreements, 270 Russian servicemen and 120 civilians were returned from the territory controlled by the Kiev regime on May 23.

On May 24, the released servicemen of the Russian Armed Forces told Izvestia about their joy at returning to their homeland. One of the fighters noted that he did not know in advance about his return home.
