A 39-year-old woman is suspected of a knife attack at a train station in Hamburg.

A 39-year-old woman was arrested on suspicion of committing a knife attack at the main train station in Hamburg. This was announced by the city police on May 23.

"The detained person is a 39-year-old woman. Based on the data received so far, we assume that she acted alone," the police said in a message on the social network X (ex. Twitter).

It is reported that the investigation of the incident is ongoing.

According to the Bild newspaper, train traffic at Hamburg's main station is currently suspended. The nearest streets are blocked. Numerous police officers and emergency services are working at the scene.

The Red Cross emergency Response team arrived at the scene of the incident to provide assistance to the victims' relatives, the publication said.
