The fifth round of indirect talks between Iran and the United States on the nuclear program in Rome turned out to be one of the most professional. This was stated on May 23 by Iranian Foreign Minister Abbas Araqchi.

"This round was one of the most professional rounds of negotiations that we have ever held," the IRNA news agency quoted the minister as saying.

In addition, Araqchi noted that the United States has begun to better understand the position of the Islamic Republic. He expressed hope that the parties will be able to make progress in the next one or two rounds of negotiations.

Earlier, on April 12, the first round of negotiations took place in Oman, the second — on April 19 in Rome, and the third round — again in Oman on April 26. The fourth round was also organized in Oman on May 11. The Iranian side is represented by a delegation led by Araqchi, while the American side is represented by US President Donald Trump's special envoy Stephen Witkoff.
