The list of localized cars for taxis will be compiled by the end of the year

The Ministry of Industry and Trade will prepare information on cars localized in Russia that meet the criteria for use in taxis by the end of 2025. This was reported to Izvestia on May 23 in the press service of the Ministry in response to a corresponding request.

Earlier information in the media about the approval of such a list is unreliable, the ministry said.

"A draft by—law containing information on vehicle models that meet the criteria set by the developers of the draft law will be prepared by the end of this year (the deadline is until the end of February 2026)," the Ministry of Industry and Trade said.

The Ministry noted that the possibility of updating this document will be provided.

Earlier in the day, Russian President Vladimir Putin signed a law on the localization of taxi cars. The law comes into force on March 1, 2026, but in some regions the new requirements will take effect later.

According to the document, a vehicle can be included in the register of passenger taxis if one of two conditions is met: if it has scored a sufficient number of localization points in accordance with the parameters adopted for public procurement, or if it was produced under a special investment contract concluded between March 1, 2022 and March 1, 2025.
