The average term of cash loans in Russia decreased in April by 11 months compared to April last year, from 2 years 10 months to 1 year 11 months. This was reported to Izvestia by the United Credit Bureau (OKB).

The average loan amount decreased by 20% over the same period, from 213,000 to 170,000 rubles.

In total, in April 2025, banks issued 1.2 million loans to Russians for 205.9 billion rubles. In the same month last year, the figures were higher: almost 3 million loans worth 631 billion rubles.

In total, over the four months of 2025, Russians issued 5.1 million cash loans worth 798 billion rubles. Compared to the same period last year, the number decreased by 53%, the volume — by 63%.

The top 5 regions in terms of cash loans in April included Moscow (82 thousand loans worth 21 billion rubles), the Moscow Region (68 thousand for 15 billion rubles), St. Petersburg (36 thousand for 9 billion rubles), the Krasnodar Territory (48 thousand for 8 billion rubles) and the Sverdlovsk Region (43 thousand for 7 billion rubles).

The largest loans were issued in April to residents of Kabardino-Balkaria (an average of 351 thousand rubles), Chechnya (332 thousand rubles), Sevastopol (326 thousand rubles), North Ossetia (310 thousand rubles) and Crimea (298 thousand rubles).

The longest term of cash loans — an average of 3 years and 5 months — was recorded in Kabardino-Balkaria, the shortest — 1 year and 7 months - in the Vladimir, Belgorod, Bryansk regions, Mordovia, Chukotka Autonomous District and Jewish Autonomous District.

Earlier, on May 15, the OKB reported that the issuance of car loans in April 2025 decreased by 31% compared to the same period last year, and the volume decreased by 39%. The average size of such a loan was 1.29 million rubles. The average loan term became shorter by six months and in April it was 63 months.
