Before the start of the summer season, the number of vacancies with part-time or temporary employment increased by 44% year-on-year, recruitment services told Izvestia. Such employees are most actively sought in trade, transport, tourism and catering, and education. They are in demand at the construction site, as well as in agriculture. There are more opportunities to find a part-time job for the summer in large regions, the services noted. The shortage of staff forces companies to be more loyal to temporary employees and hire them more often, experts say. About what salaries are offered for part—time work and what are the features of such employment, see the Izvestia article.

Who are they looking for for the summer

The number of vacancies with the possibility of part-time work in Russia increased by 44% year-on-year, the Avito Work service told Izvestia. The increase in the number of offers indicates an increased demand for temporary labor, especially in the context of seasonal vacancies, they noted.

Most often, part-time jobs and temporary employment for the summer are offered by companies from the fields of retail, transport and logistics, tourism and catering, and education, according to data from the SuperJob service available to Izvestia. They are looking for sales consultants, waiters, couriers, cooks, counselors and caregivers. Most of these offers are in the Moscow region, St. Petersburg, Krasnodar Territory, Tatarstan, Leningrad and Nizhny Novgorod regions.

Since the beginning of the year, more than 336,000 part-time or project-based job offers have been placed, which is 10% more than in the same period last year, the research director told Izvestia. hh.ru Maria Ignatova. Over the past month, employers have been looking for more than 29.7 thousand specialists for part-time work, and more than 400 vacancies have now been published for summer employment. Most of the part-time job offers are for employees in the field of sales and customer service, as well as for home staff and in the field of transport.

IT companies, retail chains, educational institutions, and marketing agencies are also actively hiring for part-time jobs. Teachers, administrators, sales consultants and cashiers, sales managers are in demand.

— As a rule, the larger the region, the more opportunities there are for part-time work. In addition, there are options for part—time work in a remote format," Maria Ignatova emphasized.

In the first quarter of 2025, the number of temporary vacancies for painters, packers, pizza makers, bakers increased significantly, Avito Work calculated.

"These professions are in demand for part—time work, as they are associated with projects where additional labor is needed for a short period of time — for example, in catering establishments this is a seasonal increase in volumes, and in warehouses it is preparation for summer turnover," they said.

With the beginning of the summer season, demand has also increased for agricultural and urban gardening workers — agronomists and gardeners, the service added.

The interest in working during the summer period is also noticeable from applicants, said the deputy General Director of the service "Work.<url>", Alexander Veterkov, the operational director of the Podrabotka service.

— According to our data, almost a quarter of respondents express a desire to find a job specifically for the summer season. 30% of the survey participants are interested in finding a part—time job for the summer," he explained. — Among those who are looking for or were previously looking for seasonal work, the service sector received the highest preference: 36% of respondents indicated it as a suitable industry for summer work. 23% of the respondents chose production. Construction and retail trade received 11% of the responses each. Agricultural work was chosen by 10% of the respondents.

How much are temporary employees paid?

Employers offer temporary employees a variety of forms of payment — hourly, shift or fixed salary, the center for "Professions of the Future" noted.

"The choice of the optimal scheme will depend on the specifics of a particular profession, the wishes of the employee and the terms of the employment agreement," they said. — At the same time, the amount of wages will depend on the work schedule, the amount of time worked and the amount of tasks completed — this is especially true for piecework payments.

In 83% of cases, employers offer a salary of 35 thousand rubles or more for part-time work, Maria Ignatova added.

"If we consider four—hour employment, which is mainly indicated in vacancies, then the hourly wage will range from 290 to 1.1 thousand rubles per hour," she explained.

According to Avito Rabota, the average salary offers for temporary part-time work have reached 71.6 thousand rubles per month this year. Most of all they offer in construction, for example, tilers - 164.2 thousand rubles per month, finishers — 160.1 thousand rubles per month, plasterers — 158.7 thousand rubles per month.

As a rule, the age range of part-timers also expands in the summer: schoolchildren and students go to work during the summer holidays, said Ventra Go, Marketing Director of the digital flexible employment platform! Anna Larionova.

Young people with good physical condition often choose the tasks of movers or order pickers in grocery chains and can earn up to 75 thousand rubles per month. And those who are closer to the food industry are considering part—time jobs as a barista or waiter with hourly pay of up to 500 rubles and tips," she said.

As a sales floor employee, you can earn from 2.5 thousand rubles to 4 thousand rubles per shift at seven o'clock. Students can perform the tasks of packing, maintaining order in warehouses and sales halls, earning up to 35 thousand rubles per summer month, Anna Larionova added.

— The older generation can choose part—time jobs that do not require serious physical activity, for example, pickers of goods, — she pointed out.

How to hire temporary employees

Employers have become more loyal to part-time employment amid a shortage of staff, Maria Ignatova believes. The shortage of employees encourages them to open vacancies for part-time work more often.

Temporary employees are often hired by a company to complete a specific project or task, added Natalia Kretova, a career consultant.

Such staff works according to the principle: there is a volume of work — come–see–done – gone. Everything is as transparent as possible, and at the end of the contract there will be no difficulties with its termination, and therefore, the likelihood of a conflict is minimal," she stressed.

In Russian practice, fixed-term employment contracts are mainly used to hire temporary workers for the summer period, Vladimir Kuznetsov, vice president of the Association of Lawyers for Registration, Liquidation, Bankruptcy and Judicial Representation, explained to Izvestia. According to him, the Labor Code provides several grounds for their conclusion, including temporary work, seasonal work, temporary expansion of production or services.

— A fixed-term employment contract has a limited period of validity and requires mandatory indication of the reason for the urgency. The absence of such an indication or the continuation of work after the expiration date automatically turns the contract into an indefinite one. The maximum validity period is five years, but for seasonal work — no more than six months, — said the lawyer.

Also, according to him, seasonal work contracts or civil law contracts (contracts for the provision of services) can be used. Seasonal work can only be carried out during a certain period due to climatic and other natural conditions, said Alexander Kazus, partner at Sonichev, Kazus and Partners Law Firm.

— For example, it is fish processing, transportation of passengers to recreation areas, harvesting of wild forest products. The season usually lasts no more than six months, but there are jobs for which the laws set longer periods," he explained.

When applying for temporary workers, standard procedures must be followed: a written contract, an order for admission, familiarization with local acts, and an entry in the workbook, Vladimir Kuznetsov reminded. The probation period for a contract of two to six months may not exceed two weeks, and for a contract of up to two months it is not established at all.

If it is not possible to determine a specific date for the termination of a fixed-term contract, then it is necessary to specify in detail the conditions upon which the contract is terminated, added Vitaly Shankin, Senior partner at ICA Yurcity. For example, the fulfillment of a specific task assigned during production will automatically lead to the termination of the contract.

— A fixed-term employment contract can be concluded with a 16-year-old teenager. The law also allows you to conclude an employment contract with a 15-year-old who has received a general education, if it is light work that does not harm his health. If such a teenager has not received an education yet, work should not interfere with his education," the lawyer said.

Minors under the age of 14 can only be employed in creative fields, and from the age of 14 — for light work with the consent of their parents. The working hours of minors have been reduced: up to 16 years old, it should be no more than 24 hours per week, from 16 to 18 years old — no more than 35 hours. Daily work is limited for teenagers aged 15-16 and should not exceed five hours, and 16-18 years — seven hours.

When concluding contracts with temporary workers, the lawyer recommended that the term and grounds for urgency be clearly defined, a specific work function be specified, probation restrictions be taken into account, termination of the relationship be processed in a timely manner, and when hiring minors, all restrictions on types of work and working hours should be strictly observed.
