The volume of sales of potash fertilizers produced in Belarus has reached the pre-sanctions level, President Alexander Lukashenko said on May 23.

As the Belarusian leader noted at a meeting on the construction and commissioning of a mining and processing complex in the Lyuban district of the Minsk region, no restrictive measures can stop the development of the state.

"It is impossible to restrain the development of any country, even a small one, with sanctions. Impossible," BelTA quoted him as saying.

Deputies of the European Parliament (EP) on May 22 by a majority vote (411 in favor, 100 against, 78 abstained) The introduction of new protective duties on imports of agricultural products and fertilizers from Russia and Belarus has been approved.

As Kremlin spokesman Dmitry Peskov commented on this decision, after the European Union (EU) countries approved the introduction of high duties on nitrogen fertilizers from Russia and Belarus, for them it will result in obtaining chemicals at a higher price, as well as a low quality level. Peskov noted that the demand for nitrogen fertilizers is equally high all over the world.
