To date, there are no decisions regarding the venue for negotiations between Russia and Ukraine on the settlement of the conflict. This was announced on May 23 at a briefing by Kremlin spokesman Dmitry Peskov.

"Of course, this decision cannot be made by one side. This requires the consent of the two sides," he said at a briefing.

Peskov also added that a decision on a venue for negotiations will be made "when the time comes."

The Wall Street Journal newspaper reported on May 22, citing sources, that the next round of negotiations between Russia and Ukraine on the settlement of the conflict could take place in the Vatican in mid-June. An American delegation may also attend the meeting.

Prior to that, on May 20, Peskov confirmed that the Vatican had stated its desire to host negotiations between Russia and Ukraine. At the same time, he added that so far no specific decisions have been made about the place of continuation of possible future contacts. He stressed that the Russian side is grateful to everyone who is ready to contribute.
