Belozerov reported on the record transportation of Russian Railways in the entire history of the company

Last year, the maximum passenger traffic was reached — more than 1.2 billion people, of which 124 million were domestic passengers. This was announced on May 23 by Oleg Belozerov, CEO of Russian Railways Holding, at a meeting with Mikhail Mishustin, Prime Minister of the Russian Federation.

"This is an absolute record since the creation of Russian Railways," said the head of the holding.

According to Belozerov, 2024 was a landmark year for the entire railway industry: the country celebrated the 50th anniversary of the start of construction of the Baikal-Amur Mainline (BAM), and also continued to implement the presidential decree on the development of the Eastern Landfill. As a result, the volume of container traffic increased by almost 6% to 7.88 million units, and transit shipments in the West—East direction take place on average in 7.7 days.

The head of Russian Railways said that the satisfaction level of passengers on long-haul flights, according to VTsIOM, exceeded 81%. In addition, in 2024, pilot operation of an unmanned electric train began on the Moscow Central Ring (MCC). As part of the technical development, new types of rolling stock were introduced, including eight-axle wagons and updated tank wagons, which increased the carrying capacity of the network.

According to the results of the first four months of 2025, passenger traffic continues to grow — already by 2.2% compared to the same period last year. According to the forecast, the company will transport more than 1.3 billion people this year.

The Lastochka Moscow–Minsk international high-speed electric train, designed specifically for the 80th anniversary of the Great Victory in the Great Patriotic War (WWII), set off on its maiden voyage on April 22. The train was launched as part of the cultural and educational project "From Moscow to Brest by Victory Roads". According to Belozerov, the wagons are arranged in a certain order, the first of which characterizes the beginning of the war.
