Forecaster predicted an abnormally hot summer in some regions of Russia

Hot periods are predicted in regions that are traditionally prone to this, but it is impossible to talk about a single temperature pattern for the whole of Russia. Anatoly Tsygankov, head of the Russian Hydrometeorological Service's Crisis Management Department, told Izvestia in which regions of the country to expect extremely high temperatures this summer on May 22.
"Abnormal heat in Russia is never widespread. This year, it is expected in the southern regions of the Urals, including Chelyabinsk and Kurgan, as well as in the southern part of the Siberian Federal District — the Tomsk, Omsk, Kemerovo regions and the Krasnoyarsk Territory," Tsygankov explained.
The expert noted that hot air masses forming in subtropical regions — Iran, Pakistan, Afghanistan and India — can even reach Yakutia.
"When a steady stream carries this hot air through Central Asia to our territory, we get periods of abnormal heat lasting from a month to a month and a half," the expert added.
At the same time, Tsygankov stressed that the concept of "abnormal heat" varies depending on the region. So, for some territories +40 degrees is extreme, for others +25 degrees can be considered an anomaly.
As for central Russia, the meteorologist confirmed the warm weather in Moscow until the end of May with temperatures of +20...+25 degrees.
"We expect that this summer the capital will also have a South Stream period lasting about a month and a half, but it is still impossible to predict exactly when this will happen," said a representative of the Russian Hydrometeorological Service.
Tsygankov explained that modern technologies do not allow making accurate long-term forecasts. According to him, even computer models cannot calculate the weather for such a period, and we can only confidently talk about the weather in the coming weeks.
Earlier, on May 22, it was reported that Evgeny Tishkovets, a leading specialist at the Phobos weather center, said that abnormal heat in summer should not be expected, as, according to him, the air temperature is forecast to be 1-2 degrees warmer than normal.
