Two people died as a result of a fire in one of the apartments of a five-storey building in Severodvinsk, an inspection is underway. This was reported on May 22 in the press service of the Investigative Committee of the Russian Federation (IC RF) for the Arkhangelsk Region and the Nenets Autonomous Okrug (NAO).

It is reported that the fire occurred at night, the 60-year-old apartment owner died in the fire. Another man who was injured during the fire died in an ambulance.

"The investigative bodies of the Investigative Committee of the Russian Federation for the Arkhangelsk Region and the Nenets Autonomous Okrug are conducting a pre—investigation check on this fact," the agency said in a publication on its website.

The regional Investigative Committee added that one of the possible causes of the fire is careless handling of fire.
