A documentary about the athlete Kostomarov will be released on Amazon and the Film Platform.

The documentary "Roman Kostomarov: Born Twice" will be released on foreign online platforms, including Amazon and the educational OTT service Film Platform.

The producers note that the film tells the inspiring story of a two-time Olympic champion who, after amputation, was able to come back to life and go on the ice.

Kostomarov himself shared that it is important to him that his story resonates in different countries, and the main idea of the film is never to give up, no matter what.

"The support of my family and loved ones gave me special strength, thanks to which I was able to move forward and overcome any difficulties," the athlete emphasized.

Producer Jean Prosyanov said that the film is a story about perseverance and fortitude, which inspires millions, and now it will be seen by viewers around the world.

The film premiered in March 2024 at the Rossiya exhibition and forum, after which the film was widely released and also shown on the Wink video service in the format of a four-episode series. The Renixa company was engaged in the production of the tape. The project was created with the support of the Institute for the Development of the Internet (ANO "IRI"). The Russian distributor of feature and animated films, NMG Kinoprokat, which is part of the National Media Group, was responsible for the film distribution.

The film was selected in more than 20 international film festivals and won a number of awards, including the Grand Prix at the Hungarian Inclusive Film Festival and the President's Prize at the Moscow International Film Festival "Let's Live".

The film crew spent several months with Kostomarov filming his rehabilitation and return to sports. The film also features interviews with family, colleagues, and doctors, and the interviewer was Maxim Allanazarov, Deputy editor-in-chief of Sport Express. In total, more than 30 hours of interviews were filmed during the filming.

On January 10, 2023, Kostomarov was hospitalized with left-sided pneumonia, which worsened and turned into a bilateral one. Due to the appearance of gangrene, doctors had to amputate his feet and hands. Later, the figure skater had prosthetics installed on his legs. During his illness, the athlete was confronted with sepsis and a brain hematoma. He suffered two strokes. Kostomarov was discharged from the hospital on July 6.

In mid-November, the figure skater revealed that he was preparing to return to ice skating. According to the athlete, the ankle is important in figure skating, and now Kostomarov is training in a new technique in which you need to keep your balance by tilting your hip.

In December, Kostomarov started skating and went on the ice for the first time after amputation, showing his journey on the ice in a short video. Later, together with Olympic ice dancing champion Tatiana Navka, they performed in the show of Ilya Averbukh, the 2002 Olympic silver medalist in ice dancing. The athlete called this performance a historic event.
