Moscow Mayor Sergei Sobyanin has opened a new electric depot Yuzhnoye on the Zamoskvoretskaya metro line. This was announced on Wednesday, May 21, according to the Moscow City News Agency.

According to the official, the new depot is the largest and most modern in Russia. The commissioning of the facility became the final stage in the formation of the largest in the country and one of the largest complexes in Europe for the repair, maintenance and operation of subway cars, writes NSN.

46 buildings and structures were built on the territory of the depot, where advanced equipment was placed, RT clarifies.

According to Sobyanin, the Moscow subway is developing in a way that "probably no other subway in the world is developing."

The Zamoskvoretskaya line has also been replenished with 10 new Moscow-2024 trains, the website reports. kp.ru .

On May 15, Sergei Sobyanin announced that more than 30 more metro stations will be built in Moscow in the coming years. According to the mayor, the construction of four stations of the Troitskaya line — Vavilovskaya, Akademicheskaya, Krymskaya and ZILA - will be completed in 2025. In 2026, it is planned to open the first stations of the new 17th line - Rublevo—Arkhangelskaya.
