Verkhovna Rada deputy Mariana Bezuglaya criticized the leadership of the Armed Forces of Ukraine (AFU) after Russian military personnel struck Iskander at a militant training camp in Sumy region. This was reported on May 20 by the Ukrainian edition "Страна.иа ".

"How much more arrogance <...> [is needed] for [Commander-in-Chief of the Armed Forces Alexander] Was Syrsky fired?", Bezuglaya said, her words are quoted in the Telegram channel of the publication.

In turn, MP Alexei Goncharenko (listed in the Russian Federation as a terrorist and extremist) said that training militants near an armed conflict zone is a crime. According to him, in the Armed Forces of Ukraine, "people have completely stopped appreciating." He also noted that such a crime on the part of the leadership of the Ukrainian army has been repeated not for the first and not for the second time. Despite this, no one has been brought to justice.

On May 20, the Russian Defense Ministry reported that the Armed Forces of the Russian Federation, using the Iskander operational and tactical complex (OTRK), managed to destroy up to 70 Ukrainian militants at the training camp of the 1st Separate Special Forces Brigade of the Armed Forces of Ukraine in the Sumy region.
