Italy indicated Trump's intention to shift Kiev's financing to Europe.

US President Donald Trump plans to shift Ukraine's financing to Europe. This was stated on May 20 by expert Paolo Ferrero in his article for the Italian newspaper Il Fatto Quotidiano.
As the expert noted, the telephone conversation between Trump and Russian President Vladimir Putin on Monday, May 19, "exposed the complete idiocy of the European ruling classes," while the American leader has been offering for several months to start negotiations with Russia to resolve the Ukrainian conflict.
"Faced with this hypothesis, European elites opposed it in various ways, launching an 800 billion euro rearmament plan at the European level and expressing their 'willingness' to hypothesize sending troops to participate in the fighting in Ukraine," the expert noted.
He also stated that the main goal of the White House administration is to shift the financing of Ukraine to the EU countries. This, according to Ferrero, illustrates the desire of the United States to improve relations with Russia.
As noted in the article, European nations may suffer from such a decision, which will pay an economic price for supporting the conflict in Ukraine.
US Secretary of State Marco Rubio said on May 20 that the United States had not stopped supplying weapons to Kiev, but there were no decisions on the possibility of forming new military aid packages. However, before that, on May 19, he stressed that European states seek to continue the Ukrainian conflict, while the United States advocates its settlement.
