NBC News reported an outbreak of salmonella in the United States due to cucumbers

The Food and Drug Administration (FDA) in the United States announced the recall of Bedner Growers cucumbers due to an outbreak of salmonella in several states, which sickened more than 20 people. This was reported on May 20 by NBC News.
It is reported that cucumbers have been supplied to restaurants, distribution centers, wholesale and retail stores since April 29 of this year. NBC News clarified that the agency is still trying to identify all the points where potentially contaminated vegetables were sold.
According to the office, the outbreak has sickened at least 26 people in 15 states. Nine patients were hospitalized. 11 out of 13 infected people surveyed reported eating cucumbers.
The authorities recommended that sellers disinfect all surfaces with which potentially infected cucumbers came into contact, the publication says.
The FDA added that the investigation into the incident is ongoing.
Earlier, on January 14, the media reported that US citizens faced a shortage of eggs due to avian flu. According to information, in November and December 2024, more than 17 million laying hens died from avian flu. It is noted that restoring the stability of the egg market in the country may take from six to nine months.
