- Zakharova called on the international community to respond to NATO's provocations in the Baltic

NATO's provocations in the Baltic Sea, which violated international law, should receive a clear assessment from the international community. This was announced on May 20 by the official representative of the Russian Foreign Ministry, Maria Zakharova.
"I would like to see NATO's provocative actions in the Baltic Sea in violation of international law clearly assessed by the international community," she said.
According to her, NATO countries are acting against the freedom of maritime navigation. So, last week they tried to "squeeze" ships flying the Gabonese flag into Estonian territorial waters. The ship was en route to one of the Russian ports. The ships wanted to land troops on deck, but thanks to the actions of the crew, they failed to do so.
Zakharova also noted that the Russian Foreign Ministry will continue to monitor the situation in the Baltic Sea. Russia will also respond to the abuse of NATO naval vessels, especially if they affect the interests and safety of navigation of the Russian Federation.
Earlier, on April 30, Nikolai Patrushev, Assistant to the President of the Russian Federation, Chairman of the Maritime Board, said that due to the current military and political situation, additional measures are needed to neutralize threats to Russia's security at sea. According to him, we can now see a consistent increase in NATO's military activity in the Baltic and North Seas, in the North Atlantic and the Asia-Pacific region.
