Russia has lost its status as the largest buyer of Chinese passenger cars. By the end of April 2025, it was ranked sixth in this rating, although it was previously the leader, RIA Novosti reported on May 20, citing data from the Chinese customs.

Thus, during the month, the supply of passenger cars to Russia from China dropped by 16.2% in monetary terms and amounted to $507.1 million. A month earlier, they set a record for the current year, reaching $605 million.

Brazil took the first position in the ranking of importers of Chinese cars in April, increasing purchases by more than 1.5 times to $597.7 million. Belgium ($564 million) and Mexico ($561 million) also entered the top three. Shipments to the United States dropped by a third in a month amid trade disputes — the United States took 22nd place with a result of $ 116.6 million dollars.

Earlier in the day, it was reported that passenger car shipments from South Korea to Russia in April reached their highest level since March 2023. In the middle of spring, South Korean cars worth $90 million were imported to Russia. This is twice as much as a year earlier, and a quarter higher than last month.

On May 15, it became known that the average price of a new Russian car in April 2025 reached 1.48 million rubles, which is 54.8% more than in February 2022. The average price of a used Russian car no older than 20 years in April 2025 was 0.6 million rubles, which is 26.1% more than in February 2022.
