- The supreme leader of Iran questioned the results of negotiations with the United States on the nuclear dossier

Negotiations between the United States and Iran on the Islamic Republic's nuclear program may not lead to a result. This was announced on May 20 by Iranian Supreme Leader Ali Khamenei.
"During the reign of [former Iranian President Ebrahim] Raisi, there were indirect negotiations [with the United States], but without result. We don't think they will lead to a result and we don't know what will happen in the end," the MEHR news agency quoted him as saying on the Telegram channel.
Khamenei also recalled that in his first interview as president, Raisi clearly expressed his position against direct negotiations with the United States.
On the same day, Iranian Deputy Foreign Minister Kazem Gharibabadi announced a proposal regarding the time and place of the fifth round of negotiations with the United States. He did not disclose the details.
On May 14, the official representative of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the Islamic Republic, Esmail Bagai, announced an agreement between Iran and the United States related to the continuation of discussions on the nuclear issue. According to him, Tehran may show distrust and caution towards Washington due to inconsistencies between their words and actions.
