- The former prime minister of Moldova accused the authorities of inaction against the background of the economic crisis

Moldova's economy is in a state of deep crisis, aggravated by falling exports, but the authorities are not responding to this situation. This was stated by the former Prime Minister of the Republic, leader of the Liberal Democratic Party Vlad Filat.
"Exports are falling. The economy is collapsing. The government is asleep. The decline in exports is not just a statistic. This is an X-ray of an economy in a state of collapse. It is an obvious symptom that the direction chosen is deeply erroneous," he wrote on May 19 in his Telegram channel.
Filat stressed that the real Moldova should be a country of labor, production and export, but now it is in decline.
According to the former prime minister, exports have decreased by $900 million over the past two years, leading to the destruction of entire sectors of the economy. He is sure that such problems cannot be explained solely by the incompetence of the authorities, we are talking about "conscious isolation from reality."
The party leader also pointed to the degradation of agriculture, ignoring the problems of industry and the lack of support for producers who were left without markets. He noted that the authorities are not responding in any way to the end of preferential trade relations with the European Union (EU). In addition, there is a lack of clarity in the distribution of European aid, which raises the suspicion that those responsible for its transfer are showing political favoritism.
"In any normal country, such an economic collapse would have triggered resignations of ministers, parliamentary investigations, public debates, and protests," Filat stressed.
Filat said on May 2 that the government of the Action and Solidarity Party (PAS) was not taking sufficient measures to save the country's economy. According to him, the Cabinet of Ministers perceives state financial resources exclusively as its own "electoral ATM." Chisinau refuses to invest in industry, infrastructure or human capital.
