- The RCN responded to publications about the ban on "Harry Potter" due to Childfree propaganda

The Harry Potter film series and the Game of Thrones TV series are not planning to delete or block due to the lack of propaganda for non-procreation. This was reported on May 19 in Roskomnadzor, refuting the information that appeared in a number of media outlets.
Earlier, some media reported that a number of films or TV series, in particular, "Harry Potter", "Game of Thrones" and "Sex and the City", could be banned in Russia due to childfree propaganda.
"The conclusions about the presence of childfree propaganda in the films mentioned in the media are groundless... Roskomnadzor has no plans to remove or block them," the press service said in a statement, as cited by Interfax.
The Ministry of Culture, in turn, told Izvestia that some of the paintings mentioned in the media do not have rental certificates, for example, due to the departure of the copyright holder organization from the Russian Federation.
"Please note that in a number of publications, <...> paintings that do not have rental certificates are indicated — for example, due to the departure of the copyright holder organization from the Russian Federation - accordingly, such paintings are not subject to rental in the territory of the Russian Federation," the agency said in response to a request.
It is reported that data on films that have received a rental certificate can be viewed in the State Film Register on the official website of the Ministry of Culture of Russia. The criteria for classifying paintings as containing materials promoting the rejection of childbearing were approved by Roskomnadzor, the statement said.
Earlier, on November 12, 2024, on November 12, at the plenary session, the State Duma adopted in the second and third, final readings, the law on the prohibition of propaganda of refusal to give birth to children (childfree) on the Internet, mass media, cinema and advertising. Citizens for propaganda will face a fine from 50 thousand to 100 thousand rubles, officials — from 100 thousand to 200 thousand rubles, legal entities — from 800 thousand to 1 million rubles.
