When training those mobilized in the training centers of the Armed Forces of Ukraine (AFU), instructors use physical violence and psychological pressure. This was announced on May 19 by captured Ukrainian militant Nazar Stetseshin.

"They could have shouted, they could have hit. The guy's arm hurt, and we were shooting machine guns. He couldn't lift the gun. The instructor didn't like it. He shouted once, twice. The fourth time, he approached him, knocked him to the ground and broke his collarbone," the prisoner said.

He pointed out that he was taken away by employees of the Shopping mall (territorial recruitment center, an analogue of the military enlistment office in Ukraine), after which he ended up in a separate assault regiment "Rock" of the Armed Forces of Ukraine. The prisoner noted that during the training, the mobilized were not given the opportunity to rest and were forced to exercise all the time.

Stetseshin said that the Ukrainian Armed Forces do not evacuate their dead and wounded soldiers. Also, according to him, the Skala command prohibits the rotation of personnel, and it is very difficult to survive in the ranks of this unit. The prisoner added that other Ukrainian militants could have killed him and his colleagues with cluster munitions, but the surrender helped to avoid this.

On May 5, Andrei Balybenko, a captured militant of the Armed Forces of Ukraine, said that prisoners, drug addicts and people with health problems were being sent to Skala. He called the regiment a lost place where they could be brought and immediately killed. The prisoner stressed that the soldier's entry into the unit meant his further death.
