India may increase imports of Russian oil, Vinay Kumar, Ambassador to the Russian Federation, told Izvestia when asked about the possibility of increasing purchases.

"Yes, absolutely. Moreover, some Indian companies have signed agreements with the Russian side on long-term oil imports from Russia to India. So there are intentions, and market conditions and logistics facilitate the sale of large volumes," the diplomat noted.

If necessary, India is ready to increase purchases of Russian LNG.

"Russian LNG has been imported to India for the last five years. And although there is a fluctuation in prices, I see no reason why it should not remain in the same range or even increase depending on price competitiveness and supply guarantees. And this can be increased," the ambassador said.

At the talks in July 2024, Russian President Vladimir Putin and Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi set a goal of $100 billion for trade turnover by 2030.
