Turkish Foreign Minister Hakan Fidan held a telephone conversation with his Iranian counterpart Abbas Araqchi on the negotiations on Iran's nuclear program. This was announced on Saturday, May 17, by a source in the Turkish Foreign Ministry.

"Fidan discussed by phone with Araqchi the progress of negotiations on the Iranian nuclear program," he said in an interview with RIA Novosti.

The last round of negotiations on nuclear issues took place on May 16 in Istanbul.

The day before, US President Donald Trump said that Washington had made it clear to Tehran that the country's nuclear weapons were unacceptable. At the same time, he stressed that Iran has little time to think about the issue.

Earlier, on May 11, Iranian President Masoud Peseshkian said that the country's complete abandonment of its nuclear program was impossible. In addition, he noted that it is planned to further develop Iran's peaceful nuclear industry and seek common ground during negotiations, which are needed, among other things, to show Tehran's desire for peace, not conflict.
