Currently, the possible date and place of the meeting between Russian President Vladimir Putin and American leader Donald Trump are being determined. This was announced on Saturday, May 17, by US Secretary of State Marco Rubio in the CBS News channel Face The Nation program.

"The mechanics of organizing such a meeting will require some effort. Therefore, I cannot say what [exactly] is planned at the moment in terms of choosing a place and date," he said, an interview fragment was published on the program's page on the social network X.

According to Rubio, Trump not only considers the meeting necessary, but also wants it to be held "as soon as possible."

"Now we are talking about bringing everyone together, determining the place and time and understanding what the meeting will be dedicated to," concluded the US Secretary of State.

Earlier in the day, Trump announced his intention to hold a telephone conversation with Putin on Monday, May 19. The American leader clarified that the topics of the conversation would be the settlement of the conflict in Ukraine and trade issues.

Kremlin spokesman Dmitry Peskov, in turn, told Izvestia that a telephone conversation between the American leader and the Russian president was being prepared.
