Businessman Hubutia confessed to attacking his former lover with an axe
The former Minister of Trade of the Moscow Region, businessman Mikhail Khubutia, voluntarily appeared before the investigative authorities and confessed to attacking his ex-lover— entrepreneur Yulia Wang. This was reported on May 17 in the press service of the Main Investigative Department of the Investigative Committee (GSU IC) in the Moscow region.
According to the investigation, on April 24, 2025, in a house on the territory of the Pskov region "Trekhgorka-5" in Odintsovo city district, a conflict occurred between Hubutia and a woman based on personal hostility. During the quarrel, the man struck the victim with the butt of an axe, causing her a closed fracture of the hand, wounds and bruises of the limbs.
After the incident, the suspect appeared to the investigator, wrote a confession, confessed his guilt and expressed remorse. A criminal case of attempted murder has been opened into the incident. The investigation also includes the case of the Ministry of Internal Affairs on causing harm to health and threatening to kill.
"Investigators and criminologists examined the scene, interrogated the victim, suspect and witnesses, confronted them, checked the testimony on the spot, during which the weapon of the crime was found and seized," said Olga Vradiy, senior assistant to the head of the State Investigative Committee for Media Relations.
On April 25, it was reported that the police had organized an inspection after the hospitalization of a 30-year-old woman with injuries in the Odintsovo district of the Moscow region. Wang noted that she was in a relationship with the former Minister of Trade of the Moscow region from 2018 to 2024. Hubutia regularly threatened her. The ex-minister, commenting on the situation to Izvestia, called the accusations nonsense, stressing that he was not in Moscow.
