US President Donald Trump plans to discuss the outcome of the talks in Istanbul with the Russian side soon. This was announced on Friday, May 16, by French President Emmanuel Macron at a press conference following the summit of the European Political Community in Albania.

"President Trump expects to organize talks with the Russian side in the coming hours or days," he said, as broadcast by the Elysee Palace on the social network X (ex. Twitter).

As the French leader pointed out, Trump wants to clarify what "took place" in the negotiations and "try to move forward."

Earlier, on May 16, it was reported that President of Ukraine Volodymyr Zelensky and a number of European leaders had a telephone conversation with Trump after talks between the Ukrainian and Russian delegations in Istanbul.

Prior to that, the Russian and Ukrainian delegations at the talks in Turkey agreed to present their vision of a cease-fire and exchange prisoners of war in the "1000 by 1000" format in the coming days.
