The St. Petersburg police suppressed the activities of a network of brothels located in the central districts of the city. This was reported on May 15 in the press service of the Main Directorate (GU) of the Ministry of Internal Affairs of Russia for the region.

During the operation, three women were detained, suspected of organizing and administering brothels.

"According to preliminary data, a 52-year—old woman was the manager of a network of brothels, organizing administrative and economic activities," the department's Telegram channel clarified.

Her accomplices provided work for illegal establishments.

The criminal income of the group, according to police estimates, could reach 20 million rubles per month. The criminal case was initiated under Part 1 of Article 241 of the Criminal Code of the Russian Federation ("Organization of prostitution"). In relation to the manager, a preventive measure was chosen in the form of detention, and her accomplices were ordered not to leave.

During the searches, Interior Ministry officers seized documents, bank cards, electronic media, as well as work schedules and records confirming illegal activities.

Last December, Moscow police officers identified 70 organized prostitution brothels in three districts of the capital, as well as 20 apartments housing illegal migrants. The police conducted 90 searches in residential areas of the Southern, Southeastern and Eastern districts of the city. Nine men who are the organizers of illegal activities, including the leader of an organized criminal group (OCG), were detained.
