The armed forces of Pakistan and India have agreed to continue building trust between their armies in order to lower the level of combat readiness. This was announced on May 15 by a representative of the Indian army.

"In addition to the mutual understanding reached by the commanders of military operations of India and Pakistan on May 10, it was decided to continue confidence—building measures in order to reduce the level of combat readiness," The Economic Times quoted a representative of the Indian army as saying.

In addition, Pakistan's Deputy Prime Minister and Foreign Minister Ishaq Dar said during a speech in Parliament that India and Pakistan had agreed to extend the ceasefire until May 18. He clarified that the commanders of the military operations of the two countries held telephone talks and made a new joint decision.

Relations between Pakistan and India have been strained since the terrorist attack on April 22 near the Indian city of Pahalgam in the disputed territory of Jammu and Kashmir. 27 civilians were killed. On May 7, the Indian Ministry of Defense announced the start of the Sindoor military operation against Pakistan. According to Samaa, Islamabad launched retaliatory missile strikes on Indian territory.

On May 10, Pakistan and India agreed on a ceasefire. US President Donald Trump noted that this happened with the mediation of Washington.
