- Szijjarto urged Brussels not to interfere with negotiations between Russia and Ukraine in Istanbul

The European Union (EU) should not prevent the holding of negotiations between Russia and Ukraine in Istanbul. This was announced on May 15 by Hungarian Minister of Foreign Affairs and Foreign Economic Relations Peter Szijjarto.
"We expect that Brussels will not take any actions that could prevent the achievement of a Russian-Ukrainian peace agreement or at least a ceasefire," he wrote on his Facebook page (owned by Meta, which is recognized as extremist and banned in Russia).
He also expressed hope for the success of the negotiations and that both sides would be ready to reach an agreement.
On the same day, the official representative of the Russian Foreign Ministry, Maria Zakharova, said that the Russian delegation had already arrived in Istanbul. She recalled the words of Russian President Vladimir Putin that the purpose of the negotiations is to "establish a long-term lasting peace for the historical future."
