Wagenknecht criticized the European Union for the latest anti-Russian sanctions

The European Union (EU) is making a fool of itself by adopting new anti-Russian sanctions. This was announced on May 14 by the leader of the German Sarah Wagenknecht Union party, Sarah Wagenknecht.
"The Europeans are making fools of themselves: 16 ineffective packages of sanctions that, first of all, damaged the European economy," she wrote on the social network X (formerly Twitter).
According to her, the new restrictions do not contribute to the establishment of peace in Ukraine, only making it more difficult to achieve a peaceful settlement.
Earlier in the day, the AFP news agency reported on the approval by the European Union of the 17th package of sanctions against Russia. The head of the European Commission (EC), Ursula von der Leyen, announced that the new sanctions list includes 189 tankers that allegedly transport Russian oil under the flags of various states.
The first deputy chairman of the State Duma Committee on International Affairs, Alexei Chepa, in turn, said that the next package of anti-Russian sanctions demonstrates the weakness of the EU "in its pathetic attempts to ruin the economy" of the Russian Federation. He stressed that Moscow has adapted to everything that Brussels introduces against it.
