The man who attacked the correspondent of the 78 TV channel, Alyona Chernysheva, turned out to be a former employee of the Federal Penitentiary Service (UFSIN). The broadcaster announced this on May 13.

"In the 90s, the man who attacked our correspondent worked as a paramedic at Kresty. Then Julius J. I opened and closed different individual entrepreneurs. Currently, his next company is developing microscopes," the Telegram channel 78 says.

It is clarified that after the incident, the man was interrogated by employees of the Ministry of Internal Affairs in the Nevsky district of St. Petersburg, then he was sent for questioning to the Investigative Committee (IC) of Russia. According to the TV channel, the attacker later complained of feeling unwell and went to a hospital for war veterans. He is currently in the same medical facility.

Earlier that day, 78 reported that after Chernysheva's attack, threats and insults began to arrive on social networks. According to the TV channel, the messages come from accounts registered on Ukrainian SIM cards.

On May 12, it became known that an unknown man attacked Chernysheva during her work, when she was communicating with neighbors of a teenager injured by a firecracker explosion. The girl was diagnosed with a concussion, a closed craniocerebral injury, bruises and a bruise of the lower jaw on the left.

On the same day, the official representative of the Ministry of Internal Affairs of Russia, Irina Volk, announced that the investigation department of the Ministry of Internal Affairs of Russia in the Nevsky district of St. Petersburg had opened a criminal case into the attack. Later, a case was also initiated under Part 3 of Article 144 of the Criminal Code of the Russian Federation ("Obstruction of the legitimate professional activities of journalists, combined with violence against a journalist").
