A new exchange of fire was recorded on the border of India and Pakistan, the Indian military also intercepted about a dozen drones. This was reported on May 12 by the Hindustan Times newspaper.

"On Monday evening, small arms fire was reported at the international border in Samba and Hiranagar in Jammu and Kashmir. About 10-12 drones were intercepted in Samba [by the Indian military]," the article says.

According to the newspaper, in the cities of Jammu, Samba and the districts of Vaishno Devi Bhawan and Yatra Trak, there was a power outage and the air defense system was activated.

It is clarified that the new incident occurred just a few minutes after the Indian army reported that, following negotiations between the commanders of military operations of the two countries, it was decided to consider immediate measures to ensure the withdrawal of troops from the borders and advanced areas.

At the same time, ANI agency sources in the Indian army urged not to worry about reports of drones.

"A relatively small number of drones have arrived in the Samba sector. There is no reason to worry," the agency's interlocutors said.

Relations between Pakistan and India have worsened after the terrorist attack on April 22 near the Indian city of Pahalgam in the disputed territory of Jammu and Kashmir, which killed 27 civilians. On May 7, the Indian Ministry of Defense announced the start of the Sindoor military operation against Pakistan. According to the Pakistani Samaa TV channel, Islamabad, in turn, launched retaliatory missile strikes on Indian territory.

On May 10, Pakistan and India agreed on a ceasefire. According to US President Donald Trump, the parties came to a truce with the mediation of Washington.

Later, on May 12, Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi announced that the country had suspended strikes on Pakistani territory and would act in accordance with Islamabad's steps. At the same time, Modi stressed that the Indian army, Navy and air force remain on alert.
