- The expert dispelled the myth about the need for mathematical abilities to work in IT

The stereotype of the need for brilliant mathematical abilities to work in the IT field prevents many young people from considering promising professions in this field. On May 13, Elena Provozen, head of the educational and methodological department at MAXITET IT College, told Izvestia that information technology offers a wide range of areas where mathematics is not a determining factor for success.
According to her, such specializations as data analysis, machine learning or algorithmic programming require serious mathematical training. But the IT industry is much more diverse: frontend developers can fully realize themselves by creating user-friendly interfaces without diving deep into computing. To do this, it is enough to master HTML, CSS and JavaScript, focusing on aesthetics and user experience.
It is more important for software testers to be attentive and able to work with documentation than to operate with complex formulas. In DevOps and system administration, basic logical skills are sufficient at the initial stages. Creative people have access to UX/UI design and project management, where creativity and communication skills are valued.
Practice confirms that many successful IT specialists have reached the top without much love for mathematics. Modern development tools take on complex calculations, allowing you to focus on solving practical problems.
"The main thing is not to be afraid to try. If you have an interest in technology, perseverance and willingness to learn, you can find yourself in IT, regardless of your attitude to mathematics. Yes, you will have to master some of the basics in the learning process, but in many areas they do not become a determining factor for success," said Karen.
The expert advised to focus on choosing the right specialization and developing the skills really necessary for it, proving that the lack of a mathematical mindset is not an obstacle to a successful career in information technology.
Earlier, on May 3, Anton Vasiliev, director of the Hexlet IT College, told Izvestia which IT professions are considered promising for schoolchildren. According to him, specialists in artificial intelligence and machine learning will be important.
